Speech Pathology

Supporting your child’s communication journey with warmth, expertise, and play-based care.

At Little Lions, we provide evidence-based Speech Pathology services individualised to children from 18 months old. Our team of qualified Speech Pathologists works closely with families to support early communication skills—so your little one can find their roar!

We believe therapy should feel like play. Every session is built around your child’s interests, creating a safe and engaging space for growth.

We assist across the following key areas of speech and language development:

Speech

This refers to the way your child pronounces sounds in words (e.g. instead of saying ‘cat’ they say ‘tat’).

Expressive Language

This refers to the words your child is using and the way they are combining them to form sentences and discourse. Language is important for them to be able to express needs.

Receptive Language

This relates to how well your child understands things such as their ability to follow instructions, answer questions and solve problems.

Literacy

This relates to your child’s ability to read, write and spell. It also covers your child’s ability to understand what they have written or read.

Stuttering

This relates to the disruption of the rhythm or flow of speech. It may be that your child continually repeats the same sounds or words (e.g. b-b-b-ball), prolongs sounds or words (e.g. I waaaaaaaant the ball), or struggles completely to get the word out resulting in silence or irregular breathing.

Feeding: Dysphagia

This focuses on how your child swallows food. Your child may use a PEG to be fed, or you may need to change your child’s food for swallowing it safely. Therapy includes teaching how to prepare and offer food, and how to develop your child’s skill to chew and eat food safely.

Feeding: Sensory Feeding Disorder

This focuses on to how your child relates to food. Your child might be limited in the number of foods they eat or refuse a whole group of food or texture from their diet. Your child might be diagnosed with ARFID, or have no diagnosis at all - either way, we are here to help.
