Celebrating growth for good, with the Official Launch of Little Lions Speech Pathology
20 February 2023
A speech pathology practice that started in the living room of a Joondalup house and now occupies two commercial buildings officially opened on Wednesday, 22 February.
What started as a dream for sisters Kerry Keehan and Suzie Pickering is now helping hundreds of families each month – providing services to diagnose and treat communication disorders in children, including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering, and using voice.
Little Lions Speech Pathology will be officially opened at the Joondalup Business Park by the Honourable Dr Anne Aly MP, Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education, and the Honourable Albert Jacob, Mayor of the City of Joondalup.
The launch is a coming together of like-minded professionals, community leaders, and supporters, to celebrate a business that is looking beyond the bottom line.
Founded in 2019, Little Lions is a testament to the vision and combined strengths of Kerry, her husband Nathan, and Suzie.
After months of talking, dreaming, and strategising – including consensus around the concept of ‘Little Lions’ and a collective passion for “empowering kids and equipping parents” – the front living room of Nathan & Kerry’s Joondalup home was converted into a therapy space, and sessions commenced.
In April 2021, following COVID setbacks and amidst ongoing uncertainty, the founders took a leap of faith – venturing from a home practice to the Joondalup Business Park.
Fast-forward to now, and the business has overcome challenges of the COVID-era and emerged stronger, with a team of 10 outstanding therapists, two industrial warehouses that have been transformed into professional clinical spaces, and six fully functional therapy rooms.
The clinic welcomes hundreds of families each month, and offers group therapy and school screenings to provide parents with guidance and reassurance as early as possible.
